Abstract
The electrodeposition of PbO2 on stainless stell substrate has been carried out by the anodic oxidation of Pb(NO3)2 solution at constant current density. The optimum conditions for the electrodeposition of PbO2 on steel substrate were current density 60 mA/cm2, 0.4 M Pb(NO3)2, 0.3 M Cu(NO3)2, concentrated HNO3 10 mL/L, the time of the electrodeposition t = 60 min, T = 30 oC. The obtained PbO2 was smooth, good adherent and ratio of b-PbO2 80 %. The morphology and crytal structure of PbO2 were investigated by SEM and XRD. The influence of some factors such as organic dye concentration, reaction time, NaCl concentration, pH of solution, current density on the electrochemical oxidation of organic dye on PbO2 anode has been investigated. The optimal conditions for the electrochemical treatment of organic dyes on a PbO₂ anode are pH = 7, dye concentration of 100 mg/L, electrolysis time of 25 minutes, current density 70 mA/cm2 and NaCl concentration of 10 g/L. Under these conditions, the dye degradation efficiency exceeds 99 %, while the chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal efficiency is above 90 %.
